My Kickass 2018 Review

At the end of the year, it’s hard to look back, remember everything and measure how good the year went. Oddly enough, it was the Facebook compilation video that made me realize I’ve had one epic year.

Here are my highlights...both in personal life AND blog life. (No particular order)

Family. Had some memorable moments! My dad and I brought my Nan to her first Blue Jays game. I also brought my non-beer loving cousin to beer festival, Wild Things, and she loved it!
Trips. This will be a hard year to beat. I drove to PEC and the Muskokas as well as a lil trip to Peru and Colorado. Each adventure was epic and unique and I wouldn’t have had it any other way!
Beer. After painstakingly scrolling through 100’s of photos, it appears I’ve visited over 50 breweries this year! Not to mention the incredible beer friends I’ve met at festivals, breweries and in the IG Brew CrewI’ve made so many new friends this year and each of them left their mark.

Food. In my food adventures in town and abroad, I’ve had the opportunity to try so many different foods, like Cuy and several hot sauces, and challenge myself to experiment with food and cooking. I cannot thank enough the PR companies I’ve partnered with, JoJoInstaMeets and of course, my Chef Aunt Rita, for inviting me and getting me out of my comfort zone(AND forcing me to improve my photography skills; the struggle is real.).
Friends. I’ve come to truly be grateful for my friends; I love them just the way they are. I’ve done a lot of work on myself in this department to try being a better friend, even just sending the odd text to keep in touch and let them know I think about them. (sounded less creepy in my head tbh)
Honourable mentions to go Natalie, Mel, Sharmon, Karen, VanessaMeo and Ed for putting up with my shit and being there for me, even when I’m being a bitch. Love you!

New Friends. I've had the privilege of meeting some really cool people that I've followed and admired for awhile. Let me tell you...trying not to fangirl at Craig and Tiffany from BAOS, Tara and Crystal from the Beer Sisters and Chris from Hops & Bros wasn't easy! I was so pleased that they are as genuine in person as they appear online. A huge shoutout to the amazing people at the Colorado Tourism Board; made me want to move there.
Me. Here’s a super awesome list of what I did for me:
     Read a ton of books
     I meditate
     Learned to put on makeup
Improved my cooking skills and no one died. #win
I talk to and smile at strangers(also sounded less creepy in my head)
     Practicing gratitude

The biggest one though, is getting over a fear that has plagued me my entire life. I learned how to swim. Let me repeat that...I LEARNED HOW TO SWIM!! If you know me, you understand how huge this is. If you don’t know me and are actually a mermaid, you may not find this as cool. Either way, getting over a fear is empowering AF; I encourage you to do it too.

This is not a humble brag; this is a brag brag. I’m proud of myself and what I accomplished in 2018, but still feel I could’ve done more. This year wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine, but looking back, the good outweighs the bad, by far.

2019 has big boots to fill, but I’ve already got plans for that and I can’t wait.

Cheers,
Lisa
