Sapori is Spot On

Located on Dundas West, west of Dufferin, is the newest hot spot, Sapori. It has only been open a few months, but after seeing the food porn on Instagram, I grabbed some friends and off we went!

Greeted by a beautiful bar upon entering, there are tables upfront by the windows as well as more cozy, intimate seating towards the back. This place is sheik, yet comfortable. The beer and wine selection is excellent. Sapori offers local beer in cans and bottles as well as imports I’ve never seen or heard of in addition to a rotating tap. They also have an extensive wine list and an in-house sommelier to help you with pairings. If you're into cocktails, you've got to check this place out. I was impressed at how knowledgeable the staff were on everything this restaurant offers; beer, wine AND food.

Speaking of food, let’s get to it. I was in the mood for chicken wings, so I went with the Wings & Greens($15). These Vietnamese-style wings were glazed, not saucy, with a delightfully sweet sauce. The cucumber salad on the side was refreshing; the perfect crunch with meaty chicken wings. I wasn’t the only person with chicken on the brain; a couple of my friends got the Fried Chicken. Huge portion, but they both cleaned their plates! If you’re not super hungry, there’s $5 snacks on the chalkboard or your server can let you know what they are...repeatedly(sorry)

The star of the show was the charcuterie(medium pictured, $45). When charcuterie board arrived, all 8 of us just stared. You couldn’t see the board...at all. Edge to edge, this board was stuffed with cured meats, pickled veggies and imported cheeses. None of us had ever seen a charcuterie with so much stuff! Luckily, our server was able to explain the entire board(a few times, sorry again). Needless to say, there was enough for everyone to have a taste. That was just the medium board, they also offer a large and extra large boards! I’m getting a food coma just thinking about it.

Almost forgot! Larger groups, up to 20, can reserve the sweet private room downstairs. It’s got stone walls, a wine cellar, a TV AND a spot to plug in your phone to play your own music. Ballin’!

Good times! Expected growing pains for such a new place, but everything ran very smoothly. Service was great and the food was on point. Check out Sapori!

Cheers,
Lisa

  1. I should have asked more questions about my cheeses, as I forgot what they told me too! Didn’t look at the beer list, will have to next time. Great review.
