Summerlicious Gets Me Again; First Stop: Batch

Chef Aunt and I were on the loose at Summerlicious and stopped in a Batch. Auntie, knowing I'm a beer gal, thought it would be a good balance between beer and food. It's a cool place with the brewery dividing the dining area. Nice high ceilings, white walls and large windows, make this an airy space.  

Let’s get started. My appetizer of choice was the Mini Cornish Pasty. I received 2 pasties – meaty, gravy-y. So good. The sprouts and pickle were really just a bonus. Chef Aunt ordered the Ontario Blue Cheese. She said it was good, but didn’t expect it to be a salad. The description was perhaps not descriptive enough! 
When it came to choosing the main course, neither of us could say no to the Shepard’s Not Pie. A pile of beer braised lamb and roasted turnips smothered in gravy with a side of potato gratin. Yes, it tasted just as delicious as it sounds! The potatoes reminded me of scalloped potatoes; wicked comfort food. 

Dessert was another winner. The PB&J Ice Cream Sandwich and Burnt Almost Lemon Posset were our choices. So, by the description, you already know the ice cream sandwich was good; the cookie was on point and the strawberry sorbet was delicious. Now, the posset was new to me. It seemed more like a drink than it did a custard, which is what it looked like. It was more liquidy than custardy. It was lemony and refreshing, not heavy. 
Service was fabulous. Everyone seemed to stop by to say hello and check in. Each of those people were delightful, specifically Nate and Jesse. The food was great and some of the beer is brewed in that very building! Very cool!
