Snacks & Brews at Silversmith Brewing

What's a trip to NOTL without visiting a brewery? Silversmith was on the list of places to go while here for the weekend. The weather was screaming patio and we were lucky to get a seat. I'd never had their beer before, so I was excited to check this place out. Lots of free parking too!
The servers were all enthusiastic about beer, so we were right at home. We grabbed some snacks before we headed 'downtown NOTL for the night. The patio runs along the side of the vine covered building. It's a really cool place!

Silversmith only does the beer; Mason Made Well takes care of the food. I went with the Baked Goat Cheese & Ricotta Dip. It tasted just as sexy as it sounds. The salty flavours of the goat cheese and the mellow flavours of the ricotta were blended into this heavenly, fluffy dip. Damn right, I finished it. My friend went with wings and she loved them. Mason offers the most interesting wing flavours, like Korean BBQ(hot), Tandoori

Attempted Breakfast at Escabeche

Weekend trip to Niagara on the Lake! With weekends comes this little thing called breakfast; my favourite meal of the day! Sadly, we slept in and no restaurants serve breakfast past 10am except Escabeche at the Prince of WalesHotel and Eggsmart. Since we were looking for local flavour, we headed to Escabeche.
The menu out front looked good, a little pricy, but we didn't care; we were so hungry! They took our names and we waited. We waited about 15min and were seated right by the windows in the sun

Meat Eaters Visit Planta

In the spirit of trying something new, my friend and I headed to Planta. We are open-minded meat eaters excited to see what plant-based food is like. Is it veggies trying to be meat? We shall see!
The location is absolutely gorgeous. All anglesscream 'Instagram this!' I'm glad we made reservations, this place is busy! My friend had heard how good the Planta Burger and their Truffle Fries were, so that was a no brainer. Myself, having a deep seeded love for pizza and carbs, chose the Italian Job.
We split the burger and pizza...obviously. The burger was HUGE and amazing. It was a black bean burger with all of the toppings a burger should have: mushroom bacon, queso, tomatillo ketchup and pickles. Wow. As a meat eater, I was impressed. It was juicy, tasty and so very filling. The seasoning was on point. The hype about Truffle Fries was true! A little messy, but so worth it. You'll be glad you got them. The pizza was not as good. A little soggy from toppings, but the toppi…

Toronto Cider Festival? Don't Mind If I Do!

Summer isn't only about beer; it's also about cider! Toronto's Cider Festival is going down at Sherbourne Common on August 26 and you don't want to miss it. This isn't your run of the mill 'try a drink, try another drink' event. Read on!
Keeping the Canada 150 celebrations going, there will be 28 cideries boasting over 70, that's right 7-0, different ciders from across Canada. I didn't know that many even existed! You can also enter a contest to win a trip to Prince Edward County andVancouver. There will even be a market with Canadian crafts. Loving this Canada theme!
In addition to fabulous ciders, there is also a food and cider pairing courtesy of Brickworks Ciderhouse
