King City Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival! June 13th! Be there!

King City Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival
25 Doctors Lane
Memorial Park
King City, ON

Craft beer and food trucks, 2 of my favourite things come together in King City for a day of fun and music. It's an all ages event(even dogs are allowed!) boasting entertainment, such as Jaugernaut, Blackboard Blues and Dear Rouge. I'm so excited!

I took a look at their Facebook page and this is an event you don't want to miss. When you see this many photos of people cooking, eating and having a great time, it makes you need to be there.

Just coming for the tunes? Cover is $5! Coming to enjoy the whole event? 19+ tickets are $10 online and $15 at the door! The Lion's Combo Pass(19+ only) gets you entry AND an entry into the draw for some sweet prizes. You can also buy charity tickets at the event, but they are limited!

Check out the festival's website for local details on designated driver services, hotels and parking. If you've never b…

An Evening of French Cuisine at Nice Bistro

Nice Bistro
117 Brock St N
Whitby ON L1N4H3

It was Mother's Day and I took my father and grandmother to dinner. Nice Bistro is a French restaurant that's been around over for 20 years. It's family owned and everyone that works there speak French. Neat! They have the regular dinner menu and a $30 prix fixe menu with the daily specials. Bonus: Nice Bistro sources locally.

My father and I went with the prix fixe and my Nan had one of the specials. The starter we chose was the Zucchini and Carrot Soup. It was dairy-free and vegan friendly. I was worried that the soup would be too sweet because of the carrot, but it was well balanced and creamy. It was seasoned with black pepper and parsley and not a lump in sight. Nan stole a few bites of mine, so I wouldn't be surprised if I come over for her play on this dish!

Now for the mains. We all had specials: I had the Salmon, my dad had the Lamb and Nan had the Beef Bourguignon(do not ask m…

Let's Do Brunch at Mendoza's

This was my first visit to Mendoza's since the Grand Opening and we decided on Brunch. Who doesn't love brunch? Combined meals FTW! I've been to a few brunches and they all seem to have the same stuff...time to see what they have to offer.
It was small, but don't let that deceive you! There was the standard omelette bar and roast beast station, but what's in between those stations is what makes this brunch buffet stand out. The platter of roasted veggies caught my eye; peppers, zucchini, eggplant with a light coating of olive oil and a dash of seasoning. I went back 3 times just for this. They have your standard garden and caesar salads but they also had fancy salad; berries, goat cheese, nuts and housemade dressings. Tasty! In addition to omelettes, they also had scrambled eggs and candied bacon. You read it...Candied BACON. There was also a spicy Seafood Paella and the best Italian Wedding Soup I've ever had. It's made in house by an Italian Chef…

Food Truck Frenzy 2015

It's the Second Annual Food Truck Frenzy right here in Whitby. If you want to last year's event, you'll know it was a bumpy ride, but still a delicious one. They anticipated 8,000 visitors at their first event.....but 32,000 people came over the course of the weekend! HOLY CRAP!
This time they were more than equipped. They moved it to a new venue, the parking lot of Iroquois Park; there's even a map to help you find your favourite truck. The layout is perfect and the lines are short. Since there are double the amount of food trucks, there is a lot more choice and no fear of running out of food. By the early afternoon on Saturday, over 6,500 people had come and the day had just started.

My man's first stop....Meat Ventures! He cannot resist meat or something called Bacon Fatty. At first glance it's a sandwich...wrong. It's got Italian sausage, smoked bacon, crispy onions, Swiss cheese all in between 2 sexy pieces of garlic toast. Mmmmm. The Italian…
